
Md. Ahad Ali Sarkar was born in a respectable muslim family of Natore in 1952. He is the second son of Late Mr Musa Sarkar and Late Aliman Bibi. Mr Sarkar grew an intrest for politics and social services from the very beginning of his life. He was elected President of Bangladesh Chhattra League, College Unit during the tenure of his study at Natore College. When he was a student of B.A First Year, he joined the War of Independence at the call of the great leader Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
After the completion of his study, he contested in the Union Parishad Election and was elected as Chairman in 1976. He served as Union Parishad Chairman for consecutive seven years. In 1983, he was elected Union Parishad Chairman for the second term. He then contested in the Upazilla Parishad Chairman Election of 1985 and came out successful. As Upazilla Chairman of Natore Sadar Upazilla he devoted himself to the development activities of the Upazilla and won the heart of the common people. As a result, he was elected Upazilla Chairman for the second term in 1990.
After the cancellation of the Upazila Parishad by the then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s Government in the middle of 1991, he became more veteran in national politics. Mr Ahad Ali Sarkar was given the responsibility of the president of Upazilla Awami League and he discharged the duties of that position for long 19 years. He competed in the national parliament election in 1996 as a nominee of Bangladesh Awami League and its Party Chief Sheikh Hasina, but unfortunately he failed for a marginal number of votes. After assuming power in 1996 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nominated Mr. Ahad Ali as Chairman of Sugarses Road Development Committee. He performed his responsibility honestly and sincerely for long 5 years. Afterwards, he was also elected Senior Joint Secretary of Natore District Awami League.
Mr Ahad Ali Sarkar has been elected MP from the constituency of 59 Natore-2 as a nominee of Awami League in the last parliamentary election held on 29th December 2008. After that he took oath as a state minister and was conferred the portfolio of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Mr. Sarkar is a proud father of three sons and four daughters.
