The Council is a Statutory Body, under Ministry of Youth & Sports, having representation of all recognized National Games Federation, Division, District and Services Sports Associations. Formation of the Board was basically aimed at coordinating and organizing games and sports in the country. The composition the Council is as under:

One representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to be nominated by the Government President, Bangladesh Shooting Federation
President, Bangladesh Football Federation President, Bangladesh Rowing Federation
President, Bangladesh Cricket Board President, Bangladesh Kabadi Federation
President, Bangladesh Hockey Federation President, Bangladesh Women Sports Federation
President, Bangladesh Amateur Boxing Federation President, Bangladesh Karate Federation
President, Bangladesh Badminton Federation President, Bangladesh Billiards & Snooker Federation
President, Bangladesh Body Building Federation President, Bangladesh Hand Ball Federation
President, Bangladesh Chess Federation President, Bangladesh Swimming Federation
President, Bangladesh Cycling Federation President, Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation
President, Bangladesh Basketball Federation President, Bangladesh Wrestling Federation
President, Bangladesh Deaf Sports Federation President, Bangladesh Roller Skating Federation
President, Bangladesh Amateur Athletic Federation President, Bangladesh Bridge Federation
President, Bangladesh Karate Federation President, Bangladesh Squash Racket Federation
President, Bangladesh Billiards 8 Snooker Federation President, Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation
President, Bangladesh Hand Ball Federation President, Bangladesh Kho Kho Federation
President, Bangladesh Swimming Federation One Representative from each District Divisional Sports Association to be nominated
by the respective Association.
President, Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation President, Bangladesh Olympic Association
President, Bangladesh Gymnastic Federation One representative from each from Army/Navy/Police/Railway Sports Control Board
to be nominated by the president of those organizations.
President, Bangladesh Judo Federation One representative from each from Inter Board Sports Control Board and the Inter  University Sports Control Board.
President, Bangladesh Tennis Federation Two Distinguished Sportsmen to be nominated by the Government
President, Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation Treasurer -nominated by the Government from amongst the members of the Council

Chairman: The Minister, and, if thereby no Minister, the Member of the President's Council of Advisers, in-charge of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Sports or any other person to be nominated by the President shall be the Chairman of the Council and the Executive Committee.
(Note: Presently the Ministry of Youth & Sports deals with the sports sector of the country.)

Secretary: There shall be a Secretary of the Council who shall be appointed by the Government on such terms and conditions as it may deem fit. The Secretary shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as the Council or the Executive Committee may assign to him from time to time.
