The worth mentioning achievements and activities in the field of sports during the last 4 years (2001-2005) are listed below:

2001

01.

Bangladesh participated in Muslim Women Sports Games held in Iran from 24th to 30th October 2001. In athletics Bangladesh won 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals and in swimming 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. 17 Countries took part in this game where Bangladesh became 7th;

02.

International Master Ziaur Rahman took part in 1st Open International Chess Board Competition held in France from 27th" Oct to 4th Nov 2001 and earned Grand Master Title Showing his unprecedented talents;

03.

Bangladesh Cricket team shown good performance in the Test Matches held in Dhaka from 5th to 28th Nov. 2001 against Zimbabwe;

2002

01.

The 7th Bangladesh Games was held during 8th to 11th March 2002 with the utmost efforts of the Government and Bangladesh Olympic Association. Late President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman introduced this game for the first time in 1978 with a view to elevate the sports and games of Bangladesh in the international level.

02. Bangladesh came out Champion in Group-A in the Asian Youth Football selection phase (under-20) in March 2002 held in Pakistan;
03. Bangladesh Army stood champion in the Chairman Cup Hockey Tournament held from 29th April to 5th May, 2002 in Myanmar;
04. Bangladesh-A Team took part in the 3-Nations Challenge Cup Cricket Trophy held in Malaysia from 19th to 27th May 2002 and became champion;
05. In the JVC Bangladesh Asian satellite Badminton Championship held from 3rd to 7th June 2002 Bangladesh clinched Champion titles in Doubles (Women) and Mixed doubles;
06. Bangladesh earned 2 Silver and 6 Bronze medals in SAARC Cycling Competition held during 8th to 12th June 2002 in New Delhi, India
07. In the 17th Commonwealth Games Mr. Asif Hossain Khan earned Gold medal in 10 m. Air Rifle held in Manchester from 25-07-2002 to 04-08-2002.
08. In the 6th SAARC Countries Carom Championship held in Maldives on 12-15 August 2002, Bangladesh became 3rd in man's double event;
09. Bangladesh won Silver Medal in Kabadi in the 14th Asian Games held in Busan, South Korea from 29-09-2002 to 14-10-2002;
10. Bangladesh became unbeaten Champion in the Sigma Darzee Wangchuk Football Tournament held in Bhutan on 20-30 Dec. 2002;

2003

01. In the 3rd SAF Football Championship Bangladesh became unbeaten Champion held in Dhaka during 10-20 January 2003;
02. Bangladesh became Runners-up in the Under-16 Asian Cup Hockey Competition held in Dhaka from 4 to 12 March 2003;
03. In the World Special Olympic Games held in Dublin, Ireland held from 14-06-2003 to 02-07-2003 Bangladesh Team of disabled sportsmen earned 10 Gold, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze;
04. In the International Carom Championship held in Dhaka from 26-29 September '03 Bangladesh earned gold medal in mixed doubles;
05. In the Devilal International Gold Cup Wrestling Championship held in Delhi from 28-29 September '03 Bangladesh became Runners-up in Oriental Wrestling;
06. Bangladesh Cricket Team shown their excellent performance in the one-day international & test matches held in Pakistan 17-08-2003 to 24-09-2003.
07. Bangladesh hosted SAARC Countries Golf Championship in Dhaka from 9-12 December 2003;
08. Bangladesh become Runners-up in international Kabadi Friendship Championship held from 5-7 December 2003 in Hariana,India;

2004

01. In the 9th SAF Games held in Islamabad, Pakistan from 28-3-2004 to 07-04-2004 Bangladesh earned 3 Gold, 11 silver and 26 Bronze medals;
02. In the 3 one-day international Cricket matches between Bangladesh & Zimbabwe held in Zimbabwe in April 2004 Bangladesh won one international one-day match;
03. Bangladesh won the series in the 3 days 1st class cricket matches against Zimbabwe-A team in April 2004 held in Bangladesh;
04. Bangladesh Cricket team drew in one test match out of two test matches against West Indies cricket team held in West Indies;
05. In the Asian Junior Athletics held in Malaysia during 12-16 June 2004 Fauzia Huda Jui earned 3rd place in long jump;
06. Bangladesh became champion in plate group beating Australia in the ICC U-19 World Cricket Championship held in Dhaka in 2004;
07. Bangladesh secured 3rd place in the 8th National Carom Championship from 31 July 2004 to 3 August 2004 held in New Delhi, India;
08. Bangladesh earned 3rd place in qualify round in the FIVA Asian Basketball Championship for Young men held in Dhaka on 22-24 July 2004;
09. In the 61st World Distance Swimming Championship held in Murshidabad, India from 29 August 2004 to 01 September 2004 Bangladesh bagged 1 Gold and 1 Bronze in 19-Kg event;
10. Bangladesh earned bronze medal in 48-Kg group in the 6th Asian Youth Women Weight Lifting Championship held on 14 August 2004 in Thailand;
11. Bangladesh clinched the championship in the Under-21 Challenge Cup Hockey Tournament held in Dhaka during 30 September to 5 October 2004;
12. Bangladesh placed 3rd position in the 4th World Carom Championship held during 5-9th October 2004 in Colombo, Sri Lanka;
13. Bangladesh won an one-day international Cricket match against India held in Dhaka on 26th December 2004;

2005

01. Bangladesh won Test and One-day International Cricket Series against Zimbabwe held in February 2005 in Bangladesh;
02. Shooter Sabrina Sultana of Bangladesh earned bronze medal on 50 m Air Rifle event in the 5h Commonwealth Shooting Championship held in Melbourne;
03. Bangladesh secured 2nd position in 1st International Kho Kho Tournament held during 17 to 19 April 2005 at Munshigonj, Bangladesh;
04. Bangladesh became champion winning all the matches of 4th Davis cap Tennis Q.R men's qualifying round held in Yangoon, Myanmar on 27th April to 1st May 2005 and elevated to 3rd round group;
05. Bangladesh won a one-day International Cricket match in the NatWest Series against world champion Australia held at Cardief in U.K on 18th June 2005.
